A Blues and Brews Explosion!!!

Every winter, it gets cold, clammy, and icy. When the skies are grey, I get the blues. About the time I just can't take it any more I remember... every May the Tri-Cities has a sure cure for the wintertime blahs. When May comes around it is time for bold and brassy live blues and tasty, cool, and fresh microbrews. On May 7th and 8th join us in Kennewick, Washington for the 14th Annual UnTapped Blues and Brews Festival.

The Festival in 2010 will be bigger, bolder and brassier. We are committed to turning up the volume with a parade of Howlin' Harps, Sexy Saxes, and Brassy Bones. UnTapped is the GREATEST BLUES AND BREWS FESTIVAL IN THE WORLD.* The prices and places are the same but there will be more music on more venues.

On May 8th, we proudly present live on the Oak Street Stage at the Benton County Fairgrounds:

  • Curtis Salgado
      (The Soul of Blues)
  • Eddie Shaw and the Wolf Gang
      (Howlin' Wolf's partner and collaborator),
  • Hamilton Loomis
      (The protégé of Bo Diddley).

A live CD from UnTapped will be cut when we bring the BoneFest All-Star Band to the stage. BoneFest brings to a festival stage for the first and only time the "funk of James Brown" Fred Wesley, the "sizzle of Elvin Bishop" Ed Earley, and "Mr. Energy and Intensity" Randy Oxford.

We kick start the day with the 509 Tri-Star Jam featuring Romagossa Blu, the Vaughn Jensen Band and Coyote Kings. The first ever UnTapped Tri-Star Jam session will be followed by Kevin Selfe and the Tornadoes (Cascade Blues Society 2009 Contemporary Band of the Year). After the main stage goes quiet at 11:00 pm; fans are invited to Jack-son's in Kennewick where Billy Roy Danger and the Rectifiers and Kevin Selfe and the Tornadoes will be playing.

But wait there's more!! The 2010 Festival offers new, improved medicine for your wintertime blues including:

  • A kick-off event on April 3rd at Ice Harbor Brewery. Tickets, door prizes and other surprise will be available for fans as we listen to live music.

  • An expanded Blues Weekend Blast-off Event on Clover Island (May 7th - 5 to 11 pm). This year will feature three bands outdoors (Miriam's Well, The BoneFest All-Star Band, and Billy Roy Danger and the Rectifiers). The night will close with the Rev. Honeybucket Johnson and guests jamming in the Crows Nest.

  • A slamming hot Weekend Full of Blues Package at the Clover Island Inn (Blues Festival Headquarters) that includes two nights lodging for two, tickets for two to Friday and Saturday, shuttle service, and breakfast.

  • For the first time we will be offering camping at the Benton County Fairgrounds. Space is limited and all sites are on first come first serve basis. There are some water and electricity sites.

  • On Friday and Saturday, UnTapped will be the host of the second annual Northwest Blues Summit... a collaboration of blues societies, festivals, performers and fans working to keep live blues music an important part of the cultural landscape of our region.

Kate's Team Foundation in support of the March of Dimes is once again our community-based non-profit partner. Kate's Team raises money to help researchers develop ways to save babies who are born too soon, as well as ways to prevent premature births and birth defects in the first place.
