Saturday, UnTapped Blues & Brews Festival:

  • Joe Louis Walker . . .

Only B.B. King has taken the blues further, and to more destinations, than Walker.

"His fretwork is indelibly stamped with his own trademark blend of emotional heat and impeccable precision - even at his most flamboyant, Walker sounds as if he's playing ideas, not just notes . Eclectic romps like this often sound like dilettantish self-indulgence, but Walker immerses himself in everything with such abandon that it all sounds fresh; in fact if you didn't know better, you'd probably swear that he had played a major role in inventing some of these styles himself . This isn't museum-piece revivalism; it's an extended love song to the blues, conceived and sung by one of the music's modern-day masters." (Living Blues, December 2009). Walker's 2010 album "Between A Rock And The Blues" won the 2010 Blues Foundation, Blues Music Award for Best Blues Album. In 2011 Walker is nominated for three Blue's Music Awards including BB King Entertainer of the Year, Contemporary Blues Artist of the Year, and Instrumentalist-Guitar.

In November 2008, Sammy won the award for "Best Male Blues Vocalist" from the Inland Empire Blues Society. This was Sammy's 3rd consecutive win, putting him in the IEBS Hall of Fame. Sammy has also been nominated for the 2011 Best of the Blues Award, “Best Male Vocalist” by the Washington Blues Society.

Don “T-Bone” Erickson writes that the band features “Strong vocals and incredible guitar playing, along with swaggering sax or hot hard, and a rhythm section that locks it all together into mighty grooves, this is how today’s Chicago-style blues should sound.”

  • The Sugar Thieves . . .

A sultry blues roots foundation, and powerhouse delta sound that will take you back in time.

The singular vision that drives this band is their mission to reintroduce blues music, to younger generations and those that have simply forgotten. The Thieves put on a unique, show stopping performance that is worth writing home about. They also come equip with a fresh new style, high-energy showmanship, and an original song list that brings music enthusiasts, of any age, to their feet to shake that meat!
