     Curtis Salgado. . .

Curtis Salgado is the soul of blues. Salgado has been nominated for the Blues Foundation's 2010 National Blues Award -- Soul Blues Male Artist of the Year. Salgado was the inspiration behind John Belushi's creation of the Blues Brothers characters in the late 1970s The Blues Brother's debut album Briefcase Full of Blues is dedicated to Salgado and Cab Calloway's character in The Blues Brothers film is named after Curtis. For six years he performed with Robert Cray's band, and sang lead on Cray's debut album. Later in 1995 he spent a stint as the lead vocalist with the latin rock band, Santana.

In 2010, Curtis Salgado has a lot to celebrate. Three years ago he was diagnosed with liver cancer and told he had eight months to live, unless he got a liver transplant which would generate medical bills upwards of half a million dollars. With no health insurance and few funds, the man who is one of America's finest blues/soul singers needed a little help from his friends. When your friends and admirers include the likes of Steve Miller, Robert Cray, Bonnie Raitt and Taj Mahal, you've got a fighting chance. Through the generosity of Curtis's friends, upwards of half a million dollars were raised and Curtis got his transplant, though there were a few twists and turns in the road before that happened. A little less than two years after his initial diagnosis, Curtis was able to record Clean Getaway, an album whose title has an obvious double meaning. With its release on July 8, 2008, Clean Getaway is a triumph in more ways than one, a sublime collaboration with the most respected session players in Los Angeles that goes to the heart of what music--and life--is all about.

Eddie Shaw and the Wolf Gang. . .

Eddie Shaw has been a sideman, singer, bandleader, songwriter, arranger, producer and tavern owner. His career began with the legendary Muddy Waters. After leaving Water's band in 1972, Eddie was the bandleader and manager for the late blues giant Howlin' Wolf from 1972 to 1975. Before Wolf died in 1976, he urged Eddie to carry on the blues with The Wolf Gang. Eddie not only kept the core of the band together (later adding his talented son Vaan on guitar), but also forged a new identity for Eddie Shaw and The Wolf Gang. Eddie Shaw has been bringing his fat-toned, blues-drenched saxophone to blues fans for fifty years, thirty of them as a band leader and vocalist. He's won fans all over the world, and continues to perform constantly, carrying on in the Windy City spirit of his mentor Howlin' Wolf and his friend Magic Sam, but above all as his own man, Chicago's #1 blues horn player. Eddie Shaw is a Blues Foundation's 2010 National Blues Award nominee for best Instrumentalist-Horn.

     Hamilton Loomis . . .

"If blues, soul, and rock can be said to form a triangle, you'll find Hamilton Loomis right in the center of it", says Guitar Player. An apt description, as Loomis is one of the young artists at the forefront of bringing blues into the 21st century and redefining it for a contemporary audience. His Blind Pig Label release, Ain't Just Temporary, finds Loomis masterfully blending his myriad influences, at once forging ahead into new musical territories while maintaining a strong connection to the blues legends that took him under their wings at a young age. The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame member Bo Diddley said of Loomis, "You got to put some seasonin' in what you're doin', and this boy's got the whole salt shaker!"
